What is the exact make, model and revisin of your motehrboard Also, what operating system are you using. Intel R 82945G Express Chipset Family Driver Doesnt SolveIf reloading the chipset driver doesnt solve your problem you MAY need to update your BIOS. If your BIOS version is less than 0601 you should update your BIOS version to 0901. Intel R 82945G Express Chipset Family Install Windows VistaWhen you expand the BIOS versions you will see the notation at 0601 quote; Please upgrade your BIOS version to 0601 or later if you want to install Windows Vista in your system If the BIOS revision is higher than 0601 and reloading the chipset driver doesnt solve your problem you MAY want to try the later 945GZ chipset driver located here; It will be driver 2 located on that page. This is a later 945GZ chipset driver than the driver Asus has listed at their website. If it is necessary to update your BIOS follow the EXACT instructions at the Asus site for updating your BIOS. Failure to update the BIOS properly can render the machine unuseable. If a BIOS update is necessary, and you do not feel comfortable updating the BIOS I would suggest you take the tower to a shop that is familiar with updating a BIOS. I only build with Intel boards, and on Intel boards with integrated video if you install a PCI or PCIe video card the board automatically selects the PCI or PCIe card as the primary video output and automatically disables the onboard video. On your Asus board it appears to me that you need to set a jumper to use a PCI or PCIe video card. This is the first board I have encountered that has a QVL list of PCIe cards. Most boards have a QVL list of supported memory, but as I stated this is the first board I have encountered with a PCIe QVL card list. I believe on your board the problem may be that the board is trying to use both the PCIe slot and the integrated video which is causing your problem. I have seen boards where the onboard video has to be disabled in BIOS to use a PCI or PCIe card, however I am not personally familiar with this jumper arrangement. Rather than me telling you something that may be incorrect, I had rather have someone familiar with this Asus arrangement give you advice of exaxtly what should be done. The relevant jumper settings are on page 1-24 of your manual. The proper way to install a video card with your board would be as follows. Uninstall the intel driver 2 Shutdown and configure jumper and install your new card. Connect monitor to new card. Restart and install the nvidia driver for your card 4 Restart and you should be good to go I did notice that your board is pretty restrictive in regard to speed for the video card. If you notice, your pic-e video card will only run 4X speed. This site is completely free -- paid for by advertisers and donations.
